- एसएससी सीजीएल एग्जाम पैटर्न की बात करे तो इसमें कुल चार Tier यानी स्तर में एग्जाम लिया जाता है Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III और Tier-IV
- Tier-I और Tier-II में MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) Types प्रश्न पूछे जाते है। Tier-I और Tier-II Online CBT (Computer Based Test) के द्वारा लिया जाता है।
- Tier-III में Hindi या English में लेखन यानी Writing का एग्जाम होता है जो normally Pen and Paper में होता है।
- Tier-IV में Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test यानी इसमें Typing Test लिया जाता है।

- एसएससी सीजीएल एग्जाम पैटर्न में टियर-I की बात करे तो इसमें कुल 100 प्रश्न पूछे जाते है जिसके लिए 1 घंटा यानी 60 मिनट का समय दिया जाता है।
- इसमें चार विषयों से प्रश्न पूछे जाते है जो है General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, General English और General Intelligence & Reasoning तथा सभी विषयों से 25-25 प्रश्न पूछे जाते है।

- एसएससी सीजीएल टियर-I एग्जाम में qualify यानी पास students को एसएससी सीजीएल टियर-II एग्जाम में बुलाया जाता है।
- टियर-I एग्जाम में कुल 500 प्रश्न पूछे जाते है जिसके लिए 2 घंटा यानी 120 मिनट का समय दिया जाता है।
- इसमें भी चार विषयों से प्रश्न पूछे जाते है जो है Statistics, Quantitative Ability, English Language & Comprehension और General Studies (Finance & Economics)।
- इसमें Statistics, Quantitative Ability और General Studies (Finance & Economics) से 100-100 प्रश्न पूछे जाते है जबकि English Language & Comprehension से 200 प्रश्न पूछे जाते है।
- टियर-I एग्जाम में Statistics, Quantitative Ability और General Studies (Finance & Economics) में प्रत्येक सही उत्तर पे 2 marks दिया जाता है और प्रत्येक गलत उत्तर पे 0.5 marks काट लिया जाता है यानी इसमें 0.5 marks negative marking है। जबकि English Language & Comprehension में प्रत्येक सही उत्तर पे 1 marks दिया जाता है और प्रत्येक गलत उत्तर पे 0.25 marks काट लिया जाता है यानी इसमें 0.25 marks negative marking है।

- एसएससी सीजीएल टियर-II एग्जाम में qualify यानी पास students को एसएससी सीजीएल टियर-III एग्जाम में बुलाया जाता है।
- टियर-II एग्जाम में पत्र लेखन, निबंध लेखन, आवेदन लेखन जैसे लेखन से सम्बंधित प्रश्न पूछे जाते है
- यह एग्जाम कुल 100 अंको का होता है जिसके लिए 1 घंटा यानी 60 मिनट का समय दिया जाता है और PWD category के candidates को यानी दिव्यांग छात्रों को 80 मिनट का समय दिया जाता है
- एसएससी सीजीएल टियर-III एग्जाम को पास करने के लिए इसमें कम से कम 33% marks लाना बहुत जरुरी होता है यानी इसमें Qualifying Marks 33 है।
